Young Designers Collaborate to Create “Spaces of Happiness” and Elevate Urban Living for All
“A good restroom isn’t just clean; it must create happiness for every user.” This philosophy belongs to the winners of the “Sukha Sukhee: THE HAPPY TOILET” design competition, organized by AssetWise (ASW).
The initiative provided a platform for architects, designers, and the younger generation to reimagine modern public restrooms that balance functionality with a superior user experience.
With total prizes valued at 260,000 THB, the competition aimed to shift the perception of public toilets from mere “places of relief” to “spaces of joy” that enhance urban quality of life. AssetWise will soon offer the blueprints of the three winning designs for free download, allowing public and private sectors to implement these prototypes in public spaces nationwide.
Mr. Kromchet Vipanpong, CEO of AssetWise Public Company Limited (ASW), stated that public restrooms are a vital element of urban design that reflects a city’s quality of life. By connecting designers with organizations looking to develop public spaces, AssetWise aims to foster a better city for everyone. The judging panel featured distinguished experts from:
The Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage (ASA)
The Thai Association of Landscape Architects (TALA)
The Thailand Interior Designers’ Association (TIDA)
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s (BMA) Public Works Department
“The competition received an overwhelming response with 683 entries. Participants were challenged to design under the ‘Happy Toilet’ concept, focusing on six key pillars: Function, Aesthetic, Sustainability, Creativity, Technology, and Constructability,” said Mr. Kromchet.
